In Gipuzkoa there was plenty of iron and trees to make charcoal. This two raw materials, together with the power of the water, allowed a wide industry of hydraulic forges to produce industrial amounts of iron. Part of this iron was used to build the ships, nails, or iron fittings. Another par of the production was used to equipt the ships, achors, arpoons, guns...etc.
An iron forge will be coming soon to The Factory, which will show how fittings and nails for the construction of the ship are made.
